“I had been working as a licensed architect for almost 10 years before receiving a scholarship from the Royal Thai Government to pursue my Master’s and Ph.D. in the U.S. At IIT, I was fascinated with the design of “Tall Buildings”. However, I decided to continue my research studies in the area of “Energy Conservation for Buildings & Green Architectures”.
During my studies at Texas A&M University, I worked as a research assistant at the Energy System Laboratory (ESL) where I conducted my dissertation related to Bioclimatic analysis using a DOE-2 simulation program and developed new techniques to present data onto psychromatric charts. I believe that energy conservation in buildings has today become a crucial area of knowledge that Thai architects need to develop in order to make progress in greener building construction.”

New Building Standards & Practices
Climate Change, Energy Efficiency & Buildings
Dr. Sopa Visitsak’s research focuses on the effects of climate change to Thai residential buildings and is funded by the Thailand Research Fund. The efficiency of energy consumption of various building components is also studied in research conducted with her colleagues, such as retrofitting windows for energy saving (funded by Kasetsart University) as well as sustainable housing (funded by the National Housing Authority of Thailand).
