“My expertise in the building industry includes bioclimatic architecture, sustainable materials, thermal comfort, climate analysis and energy policy, among others. Recently I have summarized my research work in a publication titled “BSRC: 10 Years Research Experience 1993-2003”.

Having worked with both Thai government agencies such as Thailand Research Fund, National Council of Thailand, and the Energy Policy and Planning Office, and also private companies such as Siam Cement Group, CPAC Monier Tiles and Land and House, I am attempting to apply an industry-oriented approach to the MBIT program at Kasetsart University. For over two years now at KU, I have been focusing on Appropriate Building Technology, Innovative Building Design and Applied Building Innovation Technology.”

MBIT Research & Projects:

Special Research & Workshops

Sustainable Architecture & Applied Building Technology

Dr. Joseph Khedari and Dr. Sopa Visitsak have been coordinating workshops and special topics for graduate students in Sustainable Architectures, Environmentally Responsive Building Design, Appropriate Building Technology and Applied Building Innovation Technology. These workshops encourage MBIT students to develop creative and innovative products or systems to enhance building performances and environmental concern using appropriate technologies. Students’ research and products currently involve high performance windows and doors, green panels and walls, photovoltaic applications, phase change materials and roofing systems as well as sustainable constructions and thermal comfort.

Alternative Materials Workshops

Recent materials research has highlighted the potential of natural and alternative materials and derivatives for the development of environmentally sustainable building materials, systems and products. Luke Yeung, Dr. Pattaranan Takkanon and others in the Faculty of Architecture have been coordinating with specialists within Kasetsart University as well as other industrial and academic institutions in order to conduct special workshops on the topic of alternative building materials. Examples include the development of wood composites, local agricultural waste in specific regions of Thailand, as well as new product concepts involving waste management to be implemented at Kasetsart University.
