“My research focuses on the development of eco-friendly materials and new design and analysis methods for industrial waste-based composite materials such as fly ash geopolymer binders and their construction applications.

This research relates to industrial waste utilization and management which has been given worldwide attention due to the issue of green house gases reduction. Actual production of Portland cement contributes 3.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide per year, which is equivalent to 7% of the total global emission of carbon dioxide. Among these waste products, fly ash has become a subject of growing interests. In recent years its discharge per year has been nearly upon 700 million tons.”

Fly Ash Composite Materials

Dr. Parames Kamhangrittirong’s research focuses on the development of Fly Ash as a substitute for Portland cement to produce new construction materials.

Fly Ash has been successfully applied as raw materials in geopolymer binders. Geopolymers are inorganic polymers derived from silicon and aluminum atoms in aluminosilicate materials such as fly ash, which is one of the most abundant sources of silica and alumina. With its cementitious properties, Fly Ash can form the basis of locally available raw materials for sustainable development.
